Ancient Wonders and Hidden Gems
An unexpected trio of friends took me to Greece—one of my best friends had the idea to visit Athens, and who was I to say no? We were around 18, barely adults, so we packed our bags and set off. Thanks to our under-25 EU privileges, we visited almost every museum for free and learned more about history than we ever did in school. But we didn’t stick to the usual tourist path either. We tried things you might not typically do on a short trip, like visiting a traditional Hammam bath and hiking through the hills of Athens.
It was an incredible experience, but not without its ups and downs. We dealt with strange opening hours, countless tourist scams, and of course, the crowds—even though we traveled in the off-season!
